Artist's Description

Inspired by The Expanse series, this piece depicts the sparrow Miller sees on Ceres, when he is searching for Julie Mao. To me, the sparrow, adapted to life on the asteroid, has a freedom that Miller doesn't believe he has in his own cynical worldview. Does he achieve that freedom when the glowing blue protomolecule takes his life? Or is it just an alien form of assisted suicide? Debates continue online, but I like to look at the positive side, and see it as him giving his life to help save millions, and to give comfort to Julie. Thus, the protomolecule sparrow symbolizes his freedom and nobility of spirit.

For my mandalas, my work takes themes from nature,...
