This ink drawing was a challenge piece for the 2014 science fiction convention, Capricon, held every February in Chicago. The theme for the convention in 2014 was time travel. The challenge was to incorporate a goat plus 3 of the following elements: a time machine, an historical landmark, a broken clock, something historical, and something futuristic. Since my work tends to be highly detailed, I decided to use all six elements. Big Ben, Stonehenge, a broken digital clock, various timekeeping devices, spaceships, the time dials from the movie The Time Machine, panel elements from the Tardis, Gallifreyan symbols, and many many goats fill the borders and provide architectural elements.
I've always been fascinated by mythology & fairy tales, which grew into a love of all things fantastical, including science fiction. I�m also fascinated by the gorgeous, intricate sand mandalas created by Tibetan monks, only to brush them away and start over again the next day. I also love kaleidoscopes, fractals, geometry, spirals, and nature. In 2013, I started working with colored pencils. One day, while relaxing with an adult coloring book that had a space theme, it suddenly occurred to me to take my love of mythology, science fiction, fantasy, and gaming and combine it with my love of geometric patterns with intricate detail and colors - and Tangitude Artworks was born.
