About Mary J Winters-Meyer
I've always been fascinated by mythology & fairy tales, which grew into a love of all things fantastical, including science fiction. I’m also fascinated by the gorgeous, intricate sand mandalas created by Tibetan monks, only to brush them away and start over again the next day. I also love kaleidoscopes, fractals, geometry, and spirals.
I recently started working with colored pencils. One day, while relaxing with an adult coloring book that had a space theme, it suddenly occurred to me to take my love of mythology, science fiction, fantasy, and gaming and combine it with my love of geometric patterns with intricate detail and colors - and Tangitude Artworks was born.
My work takes themes from books, myths, legends, TV shows and movies, incorporating symbols from those stories into a colorful abstract design – when viewed at a distance. In order to find the meaning, you have to study the piece, get close to see the individual symbols and find subtle nuances I work into each design.
